Who made this?

Why did Donald Hings make this Invention?/What is this product?

Questions:

Donald Hings, born November 6, 1907. He was born in Leicester, England. He moved to Canada at the age of 3. His education was, Chesterfield middle school in North Vancouver and took a two-year communications course. Donald Hings also was a pioneer in the field of "telecommunications". Unfortunately, he died on February 25, 2004 at the age of 96, in Burnaby, Britsh Columbia.

Donald Hings made this invention because he wanted to create a portable radio signaling system, which he called it the "Packset" but later called the :Walkie-Talkie, he also wanted to provide his invention for military use. He had skills and wanted to put them to use. It was also created to become a simple way for wireless radio communications systems, and a portable two-way voice radio. The Packset was therefore, water resistant, could float, had a folding antenna, and had a 130-mile range.

When did this happen?

Where did this take place?

This happened in 1937 when Donald Hings found out that Canada declared war on Germany and Donald wanted to help. When Canada did declare war against Germany, he made a numerous amount of walkie-talkies to allow the Canadian troops to communicate without having to be within hearing range.

This took place when Donald spent many years on creating and improving the walkie-talkie. His years of hard work showed his dedication for his invention. After the war, Donald moved to Vancouver and started a technology shop. While he was working under the National Research Council (of Canada), he was willing to put his complete effort into perfecting the walkie-talkie.
