Disadvantages and Advantages

Disadvantages and Advantages

Disadvantages: The cows are milked individually which in most cases could take longer because it makes sure the cows that need to milk longer can have as long as they need.

Advantages: Each cow is milked individually and on it's own - this increases throughput by up to 30% per milking stalls. Individualized milking also increases the quality of the milk as there is no group pressure and the animal can be milked calmly.

Disadvantages: Access to the udder is between the rear legs, which reduces visibility of the front quarters and can make unit attachment and udder sanitation more difficult.

Advantages: This configuration makes the walking distance shorter than in a herringbone parlor.
