There was a much finer grade of red and orange coloured pottery, made by experts who had learned their craft as apprentices, that was tastefully decorated (usually on the inside of open bowls) and elegant in style.

Some rare ceramic pots and vessels shapes found was human or animal effigie, flat rectangular bows and even spiked ones, many researchers believe that the rareness of this kind of pots is either because it was from the prehistorical period or that it represented a honored toad and it was used for medicines.

Aztec Black

Aztec Black that was only found at the Aztecs ruins and the vessels were completely smudged black and high polished surface. Some archeologists suggest that the Aztec black was a kind of vessel used for social class representation because the size, shape and color suggest so.

The elite of Tenochtitlan, who demanded objects made by the famous pottery-making centre of Cholula, to the south-east of the capital city, a region with its own artistic tradition .Cholula became famous for its elaborate pottery, and it was said that Moctezuma II demanded to eat only off of Cholula dinnerware! Bernal Díaz del Castillo tells us that it was all red or black.
