On November,6,1750 at the age of 28 she married Allan MacDonald.
In 1774, she and her husband emigrated
to North Carolina during the American War Of Independence, Captain MacDonald served the British Government. Legend has it that she (Flora) exhorted the Loyalist force at Cross Creek, that day her husband, Allan headed off to eventual defeat at the "Battle of Moores Creek Bridge".
After they got settled, Flora's husband got captured. He was taken in as a prisoner for two years. Until he was able to get out because someone else had to go in that cell this was 1777. Then he was sent to Fort Edward Windsor, NovaScotia where he took command 84th Regiment Of Foot (Royal Highland Of Emigrants) After Flora's Husband became a prisoner she, Flora went to hide. The American Patriots went to her house and ravaged their garden, and stole everything from their house. Then in 1778 she got to reunite with her husband.
In 1722 Flora was born. Her parents were Ronald and Mariam MacDonald in the Scottish isles of Hebrides. Much of Floras early life was focused on folkor. But she became involved with the Jacobite Rebellion. Her father died when she was very young. And her mom was abducted and then married Hugh MacDonald. During Jacobites Risings which was when she was only 24 years old this was June, 1746! She was living on an island called Benbecula when she was a kid. And when she got older she moved to the Hebrides in Scotland!
