- Bible never once condones slavery
- God didn't created slaves or hint at slavery as acceptable
- God views all people free and equal
Father's--vs.21
Slavery in Ancient Times:
- born into family
- captured by invading army
- sold yourself to pay off debt
- spiritual leaders
- Father's lead...kids follow
Employees
Employers:
- do what you're told
- not just when boss is looking but with reverence for Jesus
- Don't be cheap
- Motivation=we have a boss in heaven who provides for us
Motivation:
1. Fear of God
2. Rewards
3. Judgment
Practically=don't harass them with unreasonable demands...but lovingly lead them
Children--vs.20
Big Idea:
Children obey your parents in everything
Col.3:23
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.
Whatever we are doing is worship...the question is who or what are we worshiping while we are working?
Worship while I work, cause I'm working for Jesus
- willingly submitting yourself to parents God given authority because you love Jesus
Wives--vs.18
Submit:
- doesn't indicate value
- doesn't have anything to do with force
- has nothing to do with wrestling

Your desire will be for your husband and He will rule over you
The Reason you submit is because Jesus said so, not because your husband is worthy
- idea of humility
- It's to be done willingly by the wife not husband

- Love your wife and don't be harsh with her
Tempted to be:
- passive in our leadership
- harsh or embitter
Women are like flowers...they will wilt under authoritarian dominance...but they will thrive with loving care!
Love=an unceasing care for and serving our wives for their well being not mine.
