Slave Rebellions

USA CIVIL WAR

During the 19th century the USA was debating whther abolish slavery or keep with it..When Lincoln was named president of the USA he decided to abolish slavery, causing the South to unite by the name of the Confederate and declare war on the North.Although Lincoln said that the war wasn´t caused by the abolish of slavery that was the main reason why the southern states decided to be independent from the USA which was the main reason. After 4 years of war the south gave up, ending the war and causing the abolishment of slavery in the USA

How did slavery end?

On September 22, 1862, Lincoln issued a preliminary emancipation proclamation, and on January 1, 1863, he made it official that “slaves within any State, or designated part of a State shall be then, thenceforward, and forever free.”

Slave rebellions did occur within the system. Notably ones led by Gabriel Prosser in Richmond in 1800 and by Denmark Vesey in Charleston in 1822, but few were successful

When did slavery start?

Slave´s live conditions

During their travel from Africa to America

50 %t of the slaves died. Their price was only 27 dolars which meant that almost every american could afford at least one. Some owners let their slaves marry with the person that they wanted but other ones made them marry with other of the slaves of his/her property because their children will still be the property of the owner.

Slavery in America started in 1619, when a Dutch ship brought 20 African slaves ashore in the British colony of Jamestown, Virginia.

Throughout the 17th century, European settlers in North America turned to African slaves as a cheaper, more plentiful labor source than indentured servants, who were mostly poor Europeans.Due to this lots of poor european and american servants lost their jobs and either had to turn into slaves or live in stream poberty conditions.

How were slaves treated?

What's slavery

Due to not having any rights slaves were not even treated as human beings, they were just given the food needed for survival, they worked for crazy amounts of time, and were owned by a free man.Normally the slave was black and the owner was white. Due to slaves being considered a property they had no type of rights and weren't even considered humans by their owners

Slavery is the use of people as workers that have no rights and that were not paid, they were just given a small amount of food.

Back in the days slavery was a common thing. Normally they were Africans. In North America slavery was really important because a lot of workpower was needed and Americans didn´t want to work on some of the jobs such us picking up the cottom.
