Novena of

St. Aloysius Gonzaga

Dedication Prayer

  • The prayer is intercession to Mary on your own behalf.
  • This prayer is also written by St.Aloysius Gonzaga, and involves Mary because it was her voice that called him to the life of sainthood.

O Saint Aloysius, adorned with angelical manners, although I am thy unworthy servant, I recommend to thee in an especial manner the chastity of my soul and body; I conjure thee, by thy angelical purity, to commend me to Jesus Christ, the spotless Lamb, and to His most holy Mother, the Virgin of virgins. Preserve me from every grievous sin; never suffer me to sully my soul with any impurity; whenever thou seest me in temptation or danger of sin, ward off from me every impure thought and affection, and awakening in me the remembrance of eternity and of Jesus crucified, imprint deeply in my heart the sentiment of the fear of God. Inflame me with divine love, in order that by imitating thee on earth, I may merit to enjoy God with thee in heaven. Amen.

Our Father, Hail Mary.

Divine Experience

  • At a young age, Aloysius Gongaza reportedly heard the voice of Mother Mary telling him to devote his life to Christ.
  • Although his father did not agree with his lifestyle, St. Aloysius quoted, "'God calls me, I must obey Him. You, my dear father, oppose the Most High Himself when you oppose me, following my vocation."'

Novena of

St. Aloysius Gongaza

O holy Mary, my Mother, into your blessed trust and

special blessing, into your tender mercy, this day, every

day of my life and at the hour of my death, I commend my

soul and body; to you I entrust all my hopes and

consolations, all my trials and miseries, my life and the

end of my life, that through your most holy intercession

and your merits, all my actions may be ordered and

disposed according to your will and that of your divine

Son. Amen.
