Question

Prepositions

A word that links, a word that thinks

The effects

One rule that used to be very enforced is that ending a sentence with a preposition was not proper, but since then we have realized that it is possible to end a sentence with a preposition and still have good grammar. Example: ''I'm the one she's sitting next TO.''

Where do the prepositions go?

Examples

The modern jet airliner we spent millions of dollars to build is amazing.

Prepositions can be very important in a sentence. Here are some examples: My sister is lying to me. My sister is lying next to me.

Definition

Answer

The modern jet airliner that/which we spent millions of dollars to build is amazing.

This is our way to remember prepositions and how they help in a sentence. The ''link'' part is because prepositions link other words to a sentence, and the think part means that without the preposition you would have to think more to make the sentence make sense.

Here are some prepositions: as, at, but, by, down, for, from, in, into, like, near, next, of, off, on, onto, out, over, past, plus, minus, since, than, to, up, with and many more.

A preposition links nouns, pronouns, and phrases to other words in a sentence.
