Business Pitch for

Sodium

List top competitors

Many sodium compounds are useful, such as sodium hydroxide (lye) for soapmaking, and sodium chloride for use as a deicing agent and a nutrient. Sodium is an essential element for all animals and some plants.

Add some details

You may think that sodium is only found in simple household things like table salt and soap, but this is not true. Sodium percarbonate and sodium perborate are powders. Sodium percarbonate is used in deck, carpet, household and laundry cleaning products. Sodium perborate is also a powder and is used mostly in automatic dishwashing and laundry products as a hot water bleaching agent. While sodium percarbonate has the highest solubility in water, sodium perborate is more storage stable in detergent formulations. This granulated powder can be nice for scrubbing stains and stuck-on-gunk off of dishes. Think of scouring powder, but made out of hydrogen peroxide. It can be made into a paste, too, and used on tile grout and tough stains. It is easy to carry around for instance, to a laundromat because of its dry powder form. In fact, laundry products are one of the big applications of sodium percarbonate. It’s very cheap, only few dollars for a little tub of it. The recommended amounts are small, because it is very concentrated. As you can see this is a very much needed idem and we can provide it for you!

It’s a soft metal, reactive and with a low melting point, with a relative density of 0,97 at 20ºC (68ºF). From the commercial point of view, sodium is the most important of all the alkaline metals. Sodium reacts quickly with water, and also with snow and ice, to produce sodium hydroxide and hydrogen.

Sodium is used in the production of titanium, sodamide, sodium cyanide, sodium peroxide, and sodium hydride.

Sodium is a metal and is highly reducing, which means that the electron in the outer most shell is at high energy. It is, located in the first group/column of the Periodic Table.

Define the problem briefly

Sodium got its name from the English word "soda" and the Medieval word "sodaum" which means "headache remedy".

  • 11 Electrons
  • 12 Neutrons

It is an abundant element that exists in numerous minerals, most commonly as sodium chloride. Many salts of sodium are highly soluble in water and are found in the Earth's bodies of water.
