Fun Facts

Flogging occurs when either the man or the women cheats on one another.

Flogging is also another word for lashes.

People are still getting punished for

witchcraft.

Cruel and Unusual Punishments

Beheading started because people thought it was a cheap and practical method of execution in the early days. People thought it was less dishonorable and less painful.

Some of the criminals in Saudi Arabia have to get amputations ranging from hands to legs. If a person steals they are most likely get a hand amputated.

Stoning is when the convict is buried up to their necks in a field, and a crowed of people throw stones at the person until they die. This punishment can happen for unfaithful partners and people practicing or convicted of practicing witchcraft.

Minor offenses are not equally judged between men and women.

The testimony of two women is required to one equal man.

In the absence of two witnesses, vocal

confessions are almost always required.

Trials without jurors are usually closed, which means they will not go on.

A homicide is is prosecuted against a person verses the society

The closets male relative is allowed to kill the criminal or exact the same injury that was inflected on the victim.

The victim or the family of the victim is allowed to demand "blood money" or grant mercy.

Different degrees of blaming for homicide and injury are recognized depending on the intent, the type of weapon used, and the circumstances under which the crime occurred.

Saudi Arabia's court system is different from the United States because homicide is prosecuted as a crime against a person versus society, minor offenses are not equally judged between men and women, and there are punishments that are cruel and unusual.
