Fear
How do you serve God in a way that honors God? How do you receive blessings from God in a way that honors grace?
Fears control us when we attempt control of our lives or do you really think you have unlimited power?
Be thankful for..
- God's work
- God's promises
- God's character
Philippians 1:3–6 (ESV)
3 I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, 4 always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. 6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
We too often treat prayer as an act of service for God by which we can manipulate God to get what we want.
Acts 17:24–25 (ESV)
24 The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, 25 nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything.
Psalm 116:12–13 (ESV)
12 What shall I render to the LORD for all his benefits to me? 13 I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD,
Psalm 90:14 (ESV)
14 Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
Colossians 3:15–17 (ESV)
15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
