- Alec was born in Smyrna now present day Izmir.
- Because Alec and his parents were British subjects, they were evacuated to Malta by British Royal Marines in September, 1922
- Alec studied engineering at Battersea Polytechnic in London. He had to take the Mathematical exams multiply times

Alec was a Greek designer of cars, He developed the Mini Cooper in 1959. He was also one of the most original car designers . While he worked for the British Motor company he designed two of the five best selling cars in their history of selling cars.
