How did it affect Canada
Some Metis wanted to move farthest west because they thought that they were in a disadvantage without the help of their leader Louis Riel. They started to settle in Saskatchewan and began their lives all over again. Everything was going well until the English settlers arrived. The settlers had a different style of living which they disliked. Here they began to worry about their lands, agricultural and Bison because they were all slowly reducing and began to send petitions to Ottawa, asking for secure title to these needs. When the Metis moved west , they expanded their land into the west.
The Red River Rebellion was a factor to the birth of a new province called as Manitoba. If the Rebellion had not occurred then the Metis would have refused to join confederation , and known as Manitoba today would not have been connected with Canada. The birth of a new province allowed Canada to become much stronger.

Thomas Scott was an Irish protestant who was against the Metis and did not want them to be heard.Riel saw Thomas as a threat and got him sent to trail where he got reasoned for treason and was executed on April 23, 1870. In that year Fort Gary was captured by the Metis, in order to attract the governments attention and allow their voices to be heard. News is spread across the country as Riel known as a criminal. Riel then flees to the United States to avoid Canada and the English Settlers. Riel provisional government allowed the Metis to obtain their rights and enabled their colony to come into confederation. On May 12, 1870 the Canadian Parliament passed the Manitoba Act creating the new province renaming Red River as Manitoba.

The Hudson's Bay Company
Manitoba
A land survey was declared by the Dominion of Canada. John A MacDonald had sent William McDougall to talk about forming a colonial government with the tribes that lived at Red River . The Metis had rejected this idea and wanted to keep their land the way it was, so they sent Louis Riel to discuss it in Ottawa. They were simply ignored so Riel formed Provisional government, and in that government the Metis National Committee was formed.

The Red River Rebellion had occurred because the Hudson's Bay Company had sold Rupert's land to the Canadian government. Red River was included in Rupert's land, and the Metis were living on that land. The Metis feared that they would have to change their living lifestyle, and give up their land. Also that their French culture would be decreased. To protect their rights they elected Louis Riel as their leader. He then led the fight for the Metis.
