The Food Pyramid

The food pyramid helps kids to receive all the nutrients growing children need each day from the five food groups.

These are:

Fruit

Vegetables

Protein - this includes lean meat, fish, poultry, eggs, nuts

Grains - this includes bread, cereals, rice, pasta and noodles

Dairy - this includes milk, yoghurt, and cheese

Vitamins and Minerals

Vitamins and minerals make people's bodies work properly.

Eating a variety of foods is the best way to get all the vitamins and minerals you need each day. Vitamins and Minerals help kids to grow and gives them a healthy immune system. This picture shows which foods give us different vitamins and minerals
