Can sleep patterns make people

more susceptible to mood disorders???

let's apply it

inadequate sleep can often lead to depression or hopeless feelings and anxiety due to the brain not being able to rest

Facts

It is a commonly known fact that sleep is very important to a person's general health and well- being

It is also proven that the onset of many mood disorders happen in late teen years to early adulthood.

  • 75% say that lack of sleep can sometimes make them aggressive and/ or violent.
  • Most people only get 5-7 hours of sleep daily, while a great bit of others only get 3-4 hours daily.

It is almost always the case that a person is diagnosed with either depression or major depressive disorder prior to even being evaluated for further psychological problems.

  • Out of the people in these groups almost 65% say that they have significant mood swings either often or always.

Out of most of the people that took the survey, the most frequent ages were between 15 and 21.

Almost half of the participants in this surey said they have either recently or previously been diagnosed with depression by a professional

In theory, one could assume that there could be some sort of correleation between sleep patterns and mood disorders. Though, surroundings are not the only contributor in psychlogial problems, it does play a large role in the development.

EX: If someone's family has a long history of deppression problems and bipolar disorder, it makes them a bit more susceptible to th illness than others who do not hav a long history of it in their families. But, when put in certain surroundings and having a mostly possitive attitude or lifestyle, they may never affect the person at all.

On the other hand, a perfectly stable and healthy person, can lose sleep for longer periods of time and become depressed and anxious because of the toll the stress of everyday life has on their body without enough rest.
