DNR (Do Not Resuscitate)- For

Patient Self- Determination Act

  • The act that includes the Advice Directive giving patients the right to be involved in their health care decisions .

  • POLST usually completed by the health care provider
  • POLST is for those who are ill with life threats or illnesses.

DNR Order

  • Used primarily by people who are already critically ill and feel that they do not want treatment when close to death.
  • Meant to allow patients to forget about CPR in the event of cardiac arrest and cannot be applied to any situation other than the cardiac arrest.
