The killdeer mostly eats insects. They eat beetles, caterpillars, grashopper, and fly larvae. But, not only do they eat insects, but they also eat bugs like spiders, worms, snail, and crayfish. They can eat weed if they want but it only makes 2% of the birds diet.
The killdeer defends its self by turning its wing around and pretending it is bleeding on its wing and can't fly but if the animal comes closer the killdeer plays died and make a chemical come out of its body that smell like it is died.
What is there Appearance?
Male and Female look the same but have different appearance. Young birds have a low trill. In the seson of Fall, small flocks fly around and try to find someone to mate with.
Where does it live?
The killdeer prefers to live in North America because the temperature is perfect for the killdeers baby's to live. It also prefers to live hear is because there prey is mostly found hear.
