The Great Eastern Hotel

1403 Quezon Avenue, Quezon City, Philippines

The latest modern landmark of Quezon City, Metro Manila-centrally located and classically styled, elegantly scaled and vibrantly urban, the Great Eastern Hotel provides a home away from home with world class amenities in the business, shopping, and government centers of the capital of the Philippines.

Old timers would remember the genteel time when the Great Eastern Hotel opened in 1934 on Echague Street to be one of only three luxury hotels in Manila. Sadly, World War II caused the denouement of the old hotel. In 1995, the same operators brought the hotel back to life and today, the Great Eastern Hotel has been the only first-class hotel in Quezon City for the past six years. Like that hotel of yesteryear, we bring to you the same warm and gracious Filipino hospitality. We have certainly kept to our standard of luxury as we are proud to continue the historic tradition of service established by the original Great Eastern Hotel at the height of its glory days before the war.

Following a long period during which the site is thought to have been deserted, Earl Richard of Cornwall & Poitou who built the castle whose ruins we see today, acquired Tintagel in the 12th century. It was already a place of legend and there is speculation that it was modelled to evoke romanticised tales of days gone by rather than to be a practical building.

Being so remote, it was little used and was already all but abandoned and falling into disrepair little more than a hundred years later. Since then sheep and wild birds have been its main occupants. As early as the 1850's the castle has been promoted as a tourist destination; generations gazing in wonder as they strolled through the arch, around the chapel and medieval garden, peered down the well and speculated whether the tunnel was used for food storage or had a different, long forgotten use.

Luxent Hotel

Camelot Hotel

51 Timog Avenue, South Triangle, Quezon City, Metro Manila, 1103, Philippines

Down through the ages fact and fiction have mingled, creating the tales of King Arthur's court, which we know and love today.

LIST OF HOTELS AND CONDOTELS IN

QUEZON CITY

There was a time when Timog Avenue was only seen by commuters en route to other Manila hubs. Now, Luxent Hotel in Quezon City, Philippines gives leisure and corporate traveler’s reason to make it their base in the metro.

We are all familiar with romantic tales of chivalrous knights, magic and mystery, love and intrigue. These legends are inextricably linked with the enigmatic ruins of Tintagel Castle, perched precariously on a rugged, remote promontory of land, which can be reached only by a steep climb from the cove below or by a narrow pathway from the mainland.

Here, they will find the food heavenly and the services deluxe: ballroom and function venues that can cater to high-profile events and banquets, Wi-Fi Internet access, and restaurants and in-room dining options. The hotel entices guests with its spacious rooms which are stylishly decorated and generously furnished with king or queen bed, flat-screen cable TV, and free coffee and tea.

Archaeological studies have revealed that the old settlement pre-dates the days of the Round Table by far, being established in the 3rd or 4th century AD.

By the 6th century, a great ditch had been dug, creating a formidable fortress within, known as Din Tagel. Early theories that the site was a monastery at this time have been largely discounted for the artifacts which have been found reveal that this was a place of great importance; high quality Mediterranean wares which could only be afforded by the privileged, courtly few.

HISTORY OF QUEZON CITY

Quezon City was conceived in a dream of a man incomparable - the late President Manuel Luis Quezon. He envisioned a place where the common man will find his place with dignity.

On October 12, 1939, President Quezon signed the Bill into law, thus the city was born. Progress in Quezon City continued until the outbreak of World War II in 1941.
