The War of 1812 was between Great Britan and the United States. It was caused because of tention between the two countries, Britan tried cutting off trade and captured some of America's seaman. The United States won and it is looked at as "the second war of independence".

The XYZ was between the United States and France. It led to the unoffical Quasi-War. This issue didn't last long because soon we came to a resolution with France.
The Virginia Dynasty is a termed used to describe how the first four presidents of the united states were from Virginia.
Thomas Jefferson
The Underground Railroad was an important part of Americas history. It provided a refuge for slaves escaping violent and harsh slave situation. During the Civil War Lincoln passed the Emancipation Proclamation witch made southern slaves free, and the Underground Railroad made it possible for these slaves to actually get away.
Thomas Jefferson was a founding father, who helped write the Declaration Of Independence. In 1801 he was voted into office as the 3rd President of the United States he was a republican who strongly believed in democracy. He also sent out the Lewis & Clark Expedition, which opened us up to the western side of the United States.
Louisiana Purchase.
In 1803 the United States purchased the "Louisiana Territory" from France. Doubling the size of the United States and pretty much forming the mid-west.

New York passes Emancipation Act.
The North was always against slavery, but it was still a great feat when New York passed the Emancipation Act. Ending slavery in New York. Thank you Abrahamm Lincoln!
John Quincy Adams was voted into office as the 6th President Of The United States in 1825. He was a graduate of Harvard College, was a republican, and was the first president to be a son of a president. He broke land for the 185-mile C & 0 Canal. He was also passionate about the study of art and science.

Sedition Act .
Monroe Doctrine.
The Sedition Act was one of three acts in the Alien and Sedition Acts (1798). This act was "An act for the punishment of certain crimes against the United States." This act pretty much restricted speech and was the most controversial of the 3 acts.
Robert Fulton is a great engineer and inventor during the late 18th/early 19th century. His steamboat revolutionized trade and travel in the United States. He is also known for inventing the submarine and his design of inland waterways.
The Monroe Doctrine, written in 1823, stated that Europe stays out of the west. That if they tried to colonize anywhere in North or South America, it would be an act of aggression.
This kept European countries from trying to take any of our land, and built bonds with us and South American countries.

Ohio's admission to the United States!
This act mandated popular sovereignty, witch means that each territory got to decide if slavery would or would not be legal in their territory .
It was an important step towards the end of
Slavery.
Ohio was admitted as the 17th state admitted into the Union on March 1st 1803. Ohio is important for its location, connecting the east to the mid-west. Also bordering the great lakes makes it great for trade, witch helped develope the western world.
Burr Conspiracy
From September to December of 1806.
Burr was believed to be involved in an effort to capture Spanish possessions, or make the western states secede from the Union.
James Madison was voted into office as the fourth President of The United States in 1809. He is known as "The Father Of The Constitution". He is known for that because he co-wrote the first draft of the Constitution.

George Washington's Dies At Mount Vernon. The first president of the United States died late that evening from pneumonia.
Washington played an important role in the construction of the United States.

Erie Canal Completed!

On July 11th Alexander Hamilton was shot by vice president Aaron Burr.
Burr believed that if it werent for Hamilton that he would have became President. So he challenged him to a duel, to the death.
In 1825 the Erie canal was completed! The Erie canal made it possible to communicate and trade with America's interior. It rewrote how people transported goods.
Indiana Admitted To The United States.
Indiana was founded in 1816. Indiana was important because of its rich agriculture and great farming community. (Plus, Parks & Rec.)
Capitol moved from Philadelphia to Washington D.C
This happened in 1800.
Alexander Hamilton and George Washington were the ones who choose D.C to be the new Capitol. Hamilton thought it would be good to have the Capitol on Federally owned land.
Georgia Prohibits Manumission.

Harvard Law School Founded!
Fulton, Robert invents the steamboat.
In 1807 Fulton finished making his first steamboat. Steamboats revolutionized trade and the United States. Soon, canals and steamboats were everywhere you looked.
Harvard was founded in 1817. Havard is the oldest law school in the Unites States. Many great and historic people have graduated from Harvard.
