Traditional Clothing

  • Religion: The religion in Spain are 80% roman-catholic but since Spain has the biggest immigration

in Europe therefore the religions are increasing and Islam is now the second largest religion

with 1 million followers. Religion has not really affect Spain's fashion.

  • Society: In Spain people like to have fiestas, mid-day siestas and eat tapas or traditional Spanish food. They have many bars that are located throughout the city. They often meet in big groups of people when it is good weather or when they just want to go and eat something and talk.

Madrid Fashion Week and Gaudi Catwalk

Spain is a country full of fashion and trends. Spain's culture has been influenced by Europe itself, historical influences and people from all corners of the world that have affect Spain's fashion industry. Influences have been both music, dance and festivals. But fashion itself has become a part of the Spanish culture. Spain and it’s fashion has taken many countries by storm. The fashion can be elegant and genteel. But sometimes it is garments that are completely surprising as rainproof ponchos or balloon silhouettes. Spain has many different variations and Spain's fashion is popular for it. Spain has several different trends and styles. They have a lot of clothes with patterns and prints, striped sweaters, stylish accessorizes and good footwear. Their footwear for men in leather boots was the finest in all of Europe during the 18th and 19th century. They have top models that have walked the catwalks in cities like London, Milano, New York and Paris. They have fashion weeks, called “Madrid Fashion Week” and “Gaudi Catwalk” in Barcelona. Both of these events have very important places for the global fashion scene. In the events the Spanish fashion designers show up the best Spanish trends. In Spain they love to wear the newest trend.

Spain has a lot of festivals and bullfights when men and women

from society are dressed for the festivities that have been a tradition long .

For women , it is usually a mantilla , a light lace or silk scarf worn

over the head and shoulders.

There are also Flamenco. Flamenco is a spanish folk music/dance. The songs often shows strong emotions. There is hand - clapping and the sound of the spike shoes that the dancers has. Flamenco is a spanish art form with song, music and dance, whose origins are unknow but many claim that it's a Romany music.Flamenco comes in several different dances and the word flamingo, which is a bird comes from the bird because you look like a bird while dancing. Flamenco Dressing where women mostly wear black,

red or white frilly dresses with many ruffles (that are made of silk and

polyester in many layers) While men wear black or

red tuxedo shirts with classic pants in black.

When you think about Spain, you will usually see men and

women dressed in this. For women it is very traditional to

represent the feminine, the bright and the dark. But mostly it was

patterns of flowers or polka dots. For men, their look has been common

since the 17th century and they were often the colors red and

gold to symbolize the blood and the sand during the fight.

This clothing are still available and still popular today from old

centuries.

Spain's clothes has a lot of colours and patterns.

Many garments have several

colorful elements in it. The country itself

has several colors, climates (over the hole

country it's all different weathers) and environments.

The buildings, in the smaller towns, is often

painted in different colors

and this has influenced the designs to create

their garments. Spain has fashion

at a high level and Flamenco dresses

and men's tuxedo has been a signature

for the country Spain. Today,

Spain is as colorful, creative

and the country follows the trends.
