We think that Ralph is going to try to retain his leadership over the group by standing up to Jack's ideology of having fun on the island instead of getting rescued. He will make Jack's tribe understand how serious their situation is and how important it is that they work as a team to get rescued.
do you think that Ralph and Piggy are going to end up joining Jack's tribe? Or will they stick it out on their own and try to get rescued instead of joining Jack?
Simile- “The clouds opened up and let the rain down like a waterfall” (page 169)
This line is showing just how intense the storm was getting; it was raining so hard on the island that it felt like a waterfall.
Imagery – “Nothing prospered but the flies who blackened their lord and made the spilt guts look like a heap of glistening coal.” (Page 160)
This line is giving the reader a mental image of what the “lord” looks like. The pigs head is blackened by the amount of flies that consume their lord. It also says that the flies are the only ones prospering which shows what the cloudy day did to the island. The island lost its vibrant colours and prosperous looks.
When Simon regains consciousness after fainting, he is faced with a very gloomy and depressing setting. He is face to face with the dead pig head being eaten by flies and then meets death again when he discovers the dead pilot. All around him is the image of sadness and death. All of these elements are symbolizing Simon's eminent death.
