How they got to the ports
Many Nazi soldiers and collaborators distinguished themselves as civilians and lower ranking soldiers to try and make their way to Switzerland.

- Rat lines was a code name for the escape routes of nazi war criminals
- Many of these nazi went to Italy or Franco's Fascist Spain to be sent to other hiding places.
- Some got helped with the German-Priest within the Vatican
- Roughly 9,000 Nazi criminals escaped

Hudal and a Croatian priest named Krunoslav Draganović helped fleeing Nazis who got to genoa get the passports needed to flee Europe and go anywhere they wanted. They helped around 800 Nazi criminals.
