The Seven Years War was the climax of British - French

tension. It was fought all over the world, but mostly in North America and northern South America.

Thank you for watching!

British cared for First Nations less than French did. Under French rule, they were considered near equals, and could use French services. During British rule, they were forced into reserves, where they had limited access to resources or healthcare.

France would not be able to use any Canadian resources anymore (wood, fish, furs).

How were the French affected?

- Many French ways of life were abolished in North America, such as the seigniorial system (for a while) french civil law and roman Catholicism(for a while).

How were the First Nations affected?

The First Nations were negatively affected by the war at first, but later life got better for them.

The French were negatively affected by the Seven Years War.

First nation territory was limited to the Ohio valley. Before the war, the First Nations were free to go wherever they wanted, as long as it was in french territory.

- All French control in North America was destroyed (New France and Acadia).

How did the Seven Years War affect North America?

- However, the war cost Britain millions of dollars. the money was spent on ships, soldier pay, food, artillery, shelter, and other weaponry.

The Colonists could now rebel without French interference. Before, the French hated the idea of independent America just as much as the British did, for the same reasons (resources and land out of French/British control).

The colonists were not directly affected by the war, but had later, positive consequences.

- Britain now had access to Canadian resources, such as fur, wood, and fish.

How were the 13 Colonists affected?

- Without the French in North America, the British could live without fear of attack.

They would not live this way long, due to the revolutionary war.

Made Britain weaker for the later rebellion (revolutionary war). The war cost Britain millions of dollars (see *how were the British affected?*).

In most ways, the British were positively affected by the Seven Years War. However there were some negative effects too.
