Right HERE!!!

Remove the tubing from the Box

Remove the air from the Saline bags and spike with tubing

-Obtain tubing from the Omnicell. Far left cell, 6th shelf down.

-Extension tubing is directly to the right of the level one tubing

-Enclose chamber and latch door shut.

*be careful that bag is fully enclosed in the chamber and is not being pinched by the door

-Repeat previous steps for second liter of saline

-Insert the bottom portion of the long section of hard tubing into section one, then the top part into section two

-secure into place by firmly pulling latch down onto top of tubing

CLINICAL PEARLS:

  • Check the water level- if low, it can be filled by pulling up on the rubber stopper and fill with Sterile water.
  • Do not attach LEVEL 1 to extension clave of an INT
  • If blood arrives, the same tubing can be used, just remove one of the saline bags and spike blood bag.
  • After trauma, be sure to wipe machine down—Sometimes the tubing and the saline bags are already attached to the LEVEL 1, if that is where you found them, please charge them out to the patient from the omnicell and place on LEVEL 1 so it is ready for the next use—but keep things in the package—DO NOT spike them!!
  • If the Level 1 alarms, check all your connections. Simply having something clamped that should not be clamped or not having the latch pulled down completely on top of the hard tubing may cause the alarm to sound.

Secure orange tipped filter into slot 3

The Level One is a fluid warmer and rapid infuser. It can be used simply to warm fluid and blood or it can be used to warm and rapidly infuse fluid and blood. To use the infuser to rapidly give fluids or blood products, simply push the toggle switch above the fluid bag to the (+) position. This will act as a pressure bag and squeeze the products into the patient.

Plug tubing into patient's (large bore) INT. Push the GREEN button on the Level One Infuser to turn the machine on.

*Make sure all clamps are open!

<---THIS is a LEVEL ONE INFUSER

Level One Rapid Infuser

-Set up on all level 1 trauma alerts prior to pt's arrival (if possible)

-Send PCT for emergency release blood on all level 1 trauma alerts (send blood release card with trauma number)
