This picture shows how Cesar Chavez’s family got to California this is all they had left after their dad could not pay for the bills and lost their farm. This picture is important because if it was not for the car Cesar Chavez would not have gone to school and realized he needed to make a difference of how people think of other races.
This is the picture of when Cesar Chavez was on a strike for freedom. They were on strike because their owners were treating them unfairly. This helps us today because his march was a success and now everyone is equal and treated fairly.
This is a newspaper that was published 2 years before Cesar Chavez’s death. Cesar was still help to many workers. The newspaper is important because it shows how much Cesar wanted freedom for all migrant and slave workers and how his idea of change is being heard throughout many places in the states.
Cesar Chavez’s biography
A boy named Cesar Chavez was born. Little did he know that he would make a BIG change in America. Especially for migrant workers and farming slaves.
Cesar Chavez was born on March 31st, 1927 near Yuma, Arizona. In 1937 when Cesar was 10 years old, his family left Arizona because their crops/plants started to wilt and die. They decided to move to California to find a place to work. This is where Chavez attended school. Chavez had a lot of trouble in school because he spoke Spanish and everyone in his school spoke English, because of his skin color and the language he spoke his teacher and friends made fun of him and made him where a sign that said “I am a clown, I speak Spanish “ . Cesar dropped out of school, after his eighth grade graduation to work in the fields.
In 1944 Cesar joined the navy to help make money for his family. In 1948 Cesar came back to California met a women and soon got married to her, Helena Fabela and later on had 8 children. Ever since Cesar was a migrant worker in the fields he saw how poorly the workers were being treated and decided to make a change to this. He encouraged people to follow his fight for freedom sometimes when Cesar talked to a large group of people one would agree with him, it was very difficult for Cesar to get people to support his reasoning of why migrant workers should not have a hard time. Cesar and his group decided to make a red flag with a black eagle on it to show their courage and pride for migrant workers. Cesar and his group did marches and strikes; however their owners said if they do not stop, they would fire them. This made the group very mad so Cesar decided to improve on his fight.
This caused Cesar to decide to not eat for 25 days. He did this to let people notice how serious he was. Cesar and his team fought to make a difference he wanted the workers to have the same amount of respect as their owners. The strike lasted five years Cesar Chavez sent a message to people saying even the people that are poor have power when they help each other. After the fight was over Cesar continued to help the migrant workers. Later on Cesar Chavez died in 1993 in San Luis, Arizona; they think he died of his marching injuries and his starvation.
This is the story of how a leader changed the life of migrant workers by standing up for his family and seeing how he could make a change. Cesar Chavez’s fight for freedom is now a holiday that people celebrate to show the appreciation for him. Even though Cesar is no longer here, his change in freedom is still with us.
Thank you Cesar Chavez!
This is one of the most important artifacts; this is Cesar Chavez’s flag. Cesar used the color white for hope, black for the struggles, red for the sacrifices, and the bird for pride and dignity. It help change history because this is the flag that Cesar and his group the U.F.W.A (united farm workers of America ) held up as they were fighting for equality among his race.
This is one of Cesar’s posters, it is for spreading the word about the U.F.W.A. This helped Cesar get more people on his side for his strikes and petitions
This is the letter Cesar got that he thought was a prank. When he opened it he knew that it wasn’t a joke it was the real deal. It is important because it is the letter that let labor workers and slaves get better treatment instead of cruelty.
These are quotes from Cesar Chavez. The quote represents how he is determined to change the future and the quote can help other people be determined in what they are doing. The other quote is how you can never change a person that is educated, proud, etc.
This is a quote that Cesar Chavez said; this quote shows how Cesar Chavez had help along the way of his battle for freedom. This quote helps the society by telling people that they sometimes need help to overcome the tough faces they have to go through.

One evening I got a letter that I was sure it was a prank. But just in case it was not I left the march that day and got someone to drive me all through the night, to a mansion in Beverly Hills. Officials from the grape company were waiting for me inside. I was so happy I could not believe it. I wondered is this true or is this just a dream. I realized that my eyes were not deceiving me this was actually happening. They were ready to recognize the authority of the National Farm Workers Association, promising a contract with praise and better conditions. I was nervous I signed but I had to rush. I had let down my people I needed to rush to the march fast. This was an opportunity that when I got to this mansion I would not let go. The march was painful but after signing that letter it would no longer is.
