Why go to Goose Green?

What do you think the reasons were to go and fight at Goose Green?

1. Important Strategic position?

2. Put increasing pressure on the Argentine forces in Port

Stanley?

3. Propaganda/Pressure from the government?

Even though a lot didn't go right because of the acts of individuals, some positions were taking with great courage and bravery and some people died putting the whole operation at risk but showing a great example to his men.

The Battle

British HQ predict that the Argentine Forces have around 600 armed personnel at Goose Green.

The British forces arrive and find out that it is more like double the size they thought. What do you do?

You are part of D company going up a ridge, when you are halted by an enemy machine gun position, what do you do?

You are Lt. Col. Jones, you and your are pinned down by a machine gun post at Darwin hill. What do you do?

The Battle Continued

The main commanding officer has been shot fatally charging the machine gun post. A scout helicopter sent to pick up Lt. Col. Jones has been shot down. The position still needs to be taken. What would you do?

The battle of Goose Green started on the 28th May 1982.

The main commander in this battle was Lt. Col. Herbert Jones. You have a force of 690 troops, with air support and naval support.

I will be asking for your opinion in certain situations that the commanders were put in. What would you do?

You are part of D company trying to take the airfield, A company have just take Darwin hill and staying up there. While advancing you come under heavy fire from an anti air gun and you are sustaining casualties. What do you do?
