Prison Cell Analogy

Nucleus and Nucleolus

Nucleus:

-Supports the most essential functions within a cell

Nucleolus:

-Basic component for cells (neccessary)

Realtion to prison:

The wardens office (nucleus) is where the warden (nucleolus) is found. He is essential for the prison to function correctly. He is aware of everything (all the information) like the DNA in the nucleolus. He basically controls what happens in the prison, as the nucleus directs all of the cell's activities.

Lysosomes

Lysosomes:

-Breaks down/flushes out waste or unneeded material

Relation to prison:

Prisoners are held in jail for a purpose, to serve their sentence. Once it is complete, they no longer are needed or serve a purpose in jail. They are released from the jail, as the lysosomes flush out the unneeded materials or the waste.

Cell Membrane

Vacuole

Ribosomes

Cell Membrane:

-Controls what enters and exits the cell

Relation to Prison:

The entrance of the prison, like the cell membrane, controls what goes in and out.

Ribosomes:

-Make protein (essential for different cell functions)

Relation to prison:

The cafeteria in the prison produces the food, which is essential for the proper functioning of the prisoners, as the protein the ribsomes create is essential for cell functions.

Vacuole:

-Used for storage (store foods/nutrients needed for cell survival)

Relation to prison:

The storage unit/canteen is used to store goods for the prisoners (hygiene items, snacks, writing instruments, packaged food, etc.) as the vacuole stores goods for the cell.

Golgi Body

Endoplasmic Reticulum

Mitochondria

Golgi Body:

-Recieves materials and transports them (packages and distributes materials around the cell)

Relation to prison:

The mail room in a prison receives mail and sends them to the inmates, as the golgi body receives materials and sends them to other parts of the cell.

Endoplasmic Reticulum:

-Carries materials from one part of the cell to another.

Relation to prison:

The prison walkways takes prisoners from one place to another, as the endoplasmic reticulum carries materials from one part of the cell to another.

Mitochondria:

-Energy (ATP) source for the cell

Relation to Prison:

All the generators are the main source of energy for the prison, it powers the prison as the mitochondria powers the cell.
