Basic Claim

DAY-AGE THEORY

Day-Age theorists believe that each day in Genesis represents different ages or years.

personal opinion

Through this project i have gained

some knowledge on this theory, and have come to the same conclusion as when i started... the day age theory although has a little validness to it goes against the bible and thus goes against God which makes it hard for me to try and accept it as a valid theory. i think it is good to gain insight on theories as we might use our knowldge to disprove such theories so that we might bring glory and honor to His name

Biblical account

2 Peter 3:8

Genesis 1:5

Genesis 1:14

Genesis 1:16

Genesis 1:18

Psalm 90:10

Theological Implication

The Day Age Theory affects a christians theology significantly, because in some cases it tries to imply a evolutionary stand point. My personal opinion is that you cannot believe something that goes stricktly against God and the Bible, because what then would be your reasoning in believing in God or anything the bible has to say on the matter

Our Biblical Evaluation

Does it make sense inlight of Biblical fact?

Direct quote from Brianna: "Heck, no!" because....

improper interpretation of 2 Peter 3:8

inadequacy of 1,000 year day

the demands of context

Genesis 1:14 differentiates betweeen days, years and seasons

scientific evaluation

Pros

  • some of the bible references might be easy to manipulate to fit Day Age Theory

CONS

does it make sense in light of scientific fact?

  • inject geologic time into the Genesis record.
  • if the 7th day is longer than 24 hours surely we can allow the first 6 days to be the same.
  • Also appeals are made to such passages as 2 Peter 3:8 which says that “one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” The result is that instead of six creation days one ends up with six creation “ages
  • Gods use of the term "yom"in Genesis 1
  • The days of creation should be accepted as literal, 24-hour periods because of the problems in the field of botany if the days are pressed into becoming long periods of time
  • The days of creation should be accepted as literal, 24-hour periods because whenever the Hebrew word yom occurs in the plural (yamim) in Old Testament non-prophetical literature (viz., the same kind of literature found in Genesis 1), it always carries the meaning of a normal day.
