what is it?
Ecstasy is an illegal drug.
It was created in 1914 by a Germen drug company called Merck.
At first it was thought that this drug could be used as an appetite suppressant but it was later given to psychotherapy patients because it helped them open up.
It is no longer given to these patients because in 1986 animal studies showed that this drug was very harmful and caused brain damage.
