My hypothesis was incorrect because I said that baking soda would melt the ice faster. It turned out that sugar melted it faster.
Sugar acts like salt and sticks to the ice. It can melt ice just as fast as salt can so you can use this if you run out of salt for your sidewalk or driveway. Baking soda is a powder so it will not melt the ice as fast as sugar.
My IV was how long I let it sit for, and my DV was how fast the ice melts. My control was baking soda and sugar.
