What is a Heat Wave?

A heat wave occurs when the daily max temperature in an area exceeds the average max temperature by at least 5 degrees for five consecutive days.

Heat waves are different temperatures in different areas, depending on the average temperature in the area.

Staying safe in a heat wave!

  • Stay indoors!
  • Your body can rise in temperature to 105 degrees
  • These are what can happen to you if you don't
  • heat edema
  • rashes
  • cramps
  • fainting
  • exhaustion
  • heatstroke
  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • headaches
  • rapid breathing
  • -ncreased heartbeat
  • extreme thirst

What is Climate Change?

Here is an example of extreme changes throughout the globe

A change in measures of global or regional climate patterns overtime (This has been most apparent since the mid to late 20th century and onward

You can make a difference!

What can you do to stop climate change?

Causes of climate change

  • Recycling
  • using energy efficient products
  • using less power in your home
  • driving an electric car or walking
  • eat less meat
  • eat local vegetables
  • spread knowledge about climate change

  • Rising levels of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases (this is a result of many human activities)

Climate change caused by heat waves can affect the sea levels, and also the strength of other natural phenomenon

Heat waves are getting hotter and more dangerous every year. They can do a lot of damage to the environment and your health. People should be aware of how to say safe!

Projected death due to extreme temperature

The IPCC Future projections of climate change

-Arctic Region will continue warming my rapidly than t world as a whole

-large amount of terrestrial, marine, and freshwater species will face risk of extinction throughout this century and beyond

-Rise in Sea level will cause widespread retreat of shorelines in populated coastal areas while also increasing vulnerabilityto hurricanes.

-Hot temperature extremes will be more frequent and cold temperature extremes will be less frequent

The above index shows the likelyhood of heat disorders given high climate
