General Valeriano Weyler was born in Palma de Mallorca Spain,
in 1838. He graduated from Infantry School in Toledo with an
Army career. When he was 20 he become a lieutenant.
General Valeriano Weyler served in Cuba. In 1878 he was made a general. In 1895 he was given the Grand Cross of Maria Cristina for his command of troops in the Philippines.
General Valeriano Weyler Reconcentration policy was supposted to protected Cuban civilians alives until the Spanish won. But because of the lack of food, sanitary condition and medicines, over 300,000 people died.
