Girls

Boys

  • By being able to list the social groups that are involved, we will know who to target our social issue to and to whom these changes/suggestions will affect.
  • Gender labeling includes characteristics, stereotypes, roles, expectations, identity, and other traits that label you as a gender, based on your biological sex.

  • It is important because at a young age children are discovering and learning their gender norms and societal expectations.

  • The problem is that people don't conform to a specific gender.

False Belief: Boys can't wear skirts or wear the color pink.

Assumption: Boys shouldn't be able to play with dolls.

I can wear

pink too!

Fact: It is common for children to dress up as the opposite gender and it is described as perfectly normal.

Fact: Boys should be active or aggressive, emotionally strong, and search for their masculinity.

Time to feed my dolly!

Judgements: Girls can't play football because they're too fragile. Boys can't be cheerleaders because it's too girly.

Fact: Avoid stereotyping girls and boys by using information to not label and watching out for distortions portrayed through media.
