After the War

After Escaping the Train

When the War ended Eva return to Wroclaw, Poland briefly to discover 12 out off 3000 Jews that live in Oleszyce had survived. A friend of hers that know lives in New York, had also survived Auschwitz death camp. Through this friend she met her husband Henry. Eva and Henry move to Sweden where they were married. They lived in poverty and after three years living here, they had their first child.

Death Train

After jumping the train, Eva ripped the star from her arm promising herself that she would never wear a star again. Eva then survived assuming under a fake name. She boarded a train to Krakow, Poland where she was picked by the authorities with other orphans. She was sent to a market in Vienna where German would pick up workers. Ending up on a farm on Sudentenland , she worked their for a year before transforming to another farm.

Eva and her family chased their home by Nazis onto a cattle train headed for the Belzec death camp. People on the train found a way through the barbed wire keeping them in the cart and started jumping from the train, while SS officers were on top of the cart shooting as they jumped. Eva's father told her and her two older siblings to jump as they may have a chance of survival while the adults would stay with the small children. Her, her brother Berele and sister Hannah jumped from her train, but only Eva survived.
