Belief Bias: How we accept or reject a conclusion.
Belief Perseverance: Tendency to stick with your own beliefs when there is conflicting evidence or views.
Examples
Belief Bias - A good ice skater isn't necessarily a good hockey player in our
minds, but we automatically assume that a good hockey player will be a good ice skater.
Belief Bias and
Belief Perseverance
Belief Perseverance - Someone that thinks they are a good driver gets a ticket, and they don't accept the fact they could be a bad driver. They would making excuses on why they got the ticket instead.
To avoid being biased try to look at the opposite side of the story before you think that you are correct. Doing this helps people become less biased when they are evaluating evidence.
