What Is A Tropical Deciduous Forest?

If you didn't know, the word 'deciduous' means 'falling off or out of a tree'.

The reason why it's called the deciduous forest is because it is literally covered in deciduous trees. Deciduous trees shed leaves seasonally, which leads back to the meaning of deciduous. There are two (2) types of deciduous forest. One type is dry, the other is moist.

Of course, first we are doing the deciduous tree.

The deciduous tree produces leaves in the spring to get more sunlight (photosynthesis). It is in the kingdom of Plantae.

Next is the painted

trillium flower, widely known to Ontario it creates a horrible odor to keep away predators. it is part of the Plantae kingdom.

The bluebell is a blue flower, it stores all the sugars it gets from photosynthesis and stores it under the bulb so it can survive the harsh winter.

Finally there is a flower called a 'bluebell'.

Questions?

First, is the timber wolf. The timber wolves' paw can run really fast and could catch a deer, the paw can also survive without freezing in the winter when running on snow. The wolves kingdom is animalia.

Animals in the tropical deciduous forest

The last one is the white-tailed deer. The deer has a coat that turns a reddish brown colour during the summer, and gray in the winter. That prevents them from being spotted from predators. The deers kingdom is animalia.

Another animal in the tropical deciduous forest is a woodpecker. The woodpecker has a sharp beak that allows them to cut through tree bark and eat insects. The woodpeckers kingdom is animalia.

The last abiotic factor is water, animals drink water so they can stay hydrated and live.

Grass

Sadly, the deciduous forests are in danger of being cut down (deforestation) for wood and space for houses. The animals in the forest are losing their habitat because of this.

Conservation

rock right beside this

Another abiotic factor is a rock. The rock will provide a habitat for lizards such as salamanders.

The average amount of rainfall in a deciduous forest is 30-60 inches a year annually. The temperature is 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

Right above this is the soil

One abiotic factor in the tropical deciduous forest is soil, soil helps the producers grow and live.
