Onions are infamous for causing the innocent chef who dares to cut them to have itchy and watery eyes. This is a cause and effect; a consequence of what will happen.
In my personal opinion, fate is not supernaturally pre-determined. It is an effect of a cause. For instance, cutting an onion.
However, if you don't want to suffer this, you can wear goggles, chew gum, or make something else. Any of these are alternatives to the inevitable "crying" that comes with simply cutting an onion. Problem solved.
In ancient Greece and Rome, one of the famous myths were of three women, the fates, who controlled everything everything that happened to everyone by toying with each destiny; a single strand of thread.
If you decide to embark on the intelligent and innovative journey of solving the problem, you are changing your fate, or future, of crying while chopping an onion.
Have you ever heard of the idea that every time a butterfly flaps its wings, a hurricane happens on the other side of the world? I'm not talking that drastic, but my point is: Every action has a reaction.
Always remember: Make good choices. You control your own future.
Maybe it is not opposite or equal, but it influences life just as prodigiously.
Back to our chef and their litte onion problem, every little decision they makes impacts something else.
If they slice the onion without anything, their eye will hurt and they may mess up on the food and anger a costumer. If they wear goggles, a costumer might see and laugh but go home and try the idea themself.
Utilizing this thought process, everybody controls their own future through their actions and decisions. Every little thing everybody does makes an impact on their, and other's, lives.
In this famous Shakespearean play, fate is regularly used and alluded to, to justify the past and predict the future.
The idea of fate is that what happens is beyond one's control and simply a part of pre-determined doom or destiny.
