Romeo and Juliet are so codependent that rather than live without Romeo Juliet also kills herself.
One of the main themes from the Odyssey is the danger of temptation. The first time in the novel where the problems of giving into temptation are shown is in the land of the Lotus Eaters. Odysseus and his men were temporarily trapped by the temptation of the Lotus flowers. The theme was also present when sailing past the Sirens. Odysseus wouldn’t let the men hear their songs because he knew they would fall for the temptation. Finally, Odysseus spent ten years at sea because his men ate the Sun God’s cattle. If his men had not given in to their temptation Odysseus and his crew would have made it home fine.

Finny becomes dependent on Gene since he can no longer do the things he used to be able to. Finny trains Gene for the Olympics because he can no longer swim. At the same time Gene becomes dependent on Finny to try to be more like him and less like himself. Gene tries to make himself Finny, as demonstrated in the scene where Gene puts on Finny’s clothes and imagined himself as Finny. Gene becomes so dependent on Finny that when Finny separates himself from Gene and ultimately dies it feels almost as if Gene lost a part of himself.

Throughout the novel Dracula shows his power over nature. Dracula can turn humans into Vampires, he grows younger by drinking blood, he has no shadow, and can’t be seen in a mirror. Dracula defies nature and consistently shows power over nature. He interrupts nature and does not appear to particularly care about nature.
