There are a lot of interesting facts about the South East region. The only diamond mine in North America is in Arkansas. Eli Whitney created the cotton gin in the South East US. Virginia's nickname is "the Mother of Presidents" because eight presidents were born there. Thomas Jefferson and Jimmy Carter were farmers in this region.
Some of the natural resources in the South East region include fruits and crops. Oranges, peanuts, pecans, fish, peaches, tomatoes, celery, grapefruit and cotton grow well there because it is warm in the southeast region. Coal, natural gas and oil are mined natural resources.

There were some historical events that happened in the South East region. The Wright brothers tested their plane in North Carolina. In 1775, Daniel Boone helped clear the wilderness route in the Appalachian mountain trail. Also, Robert Folton created the steam boat that was called the Folton's Folly.
