What is the central idea of your concentration?

The central idea of my concentration is "Illusions". More specifically, I created images that are not as simple as a normal photograph in order to make the compositions more interesting and intricate. To create these illusions, I used digital photography and photo-editing techniques that allow me to combime multiple images or copied of one image to create pieces that may be confusing at first, but are also unique.

How does the work in your concentration demonstrate the exploration of your idea?

The work in my concentration demonstrates the exploration of my idea by being unique composition that might require a second a glance from the viewer. For instance, in Image 1, I experiemnted with simple double exposure techniques, combining a picture of a lake and a girl. The direction of the branches and the colors create the illusion aspect of this piece. In Image 2, I blended a picture of a girl with branches of trees in her hair, which created the illusion of her hair being made out of these branches. I continue to experiment with illusions like this until Image 5, where I opposed images of mountains and a city skyline to create an illusion of two worlds, In Images 6 and 7, I experimented with an illusion style of reflections. In Images 8 and 9, I took pictures of a girl with some of my other photographs projected onto her face, creating a similar illusion to double exposure, but a bit more intense. In 10,11, and 12, I really began to master the double exposure technique, with more complicated examples, creating more interesting illusions. In Image 12, I combined a picture of a girl with two long exposure/light drawing pictures, which ended up creating an eye catching piece that requres a good look to figure out, which was my goal.

Why I Chose to Take AP Studio Art

I chose to take this class because I really like photography. I have taken a photo class every year of high school so far, so it felt natural to take this class next. I think I have really improved enough from freshman and sophmore year to now to take this class and I'm glad I did because I got a lot of new phtography experiences and knowledge.
