Main Idea

Setting

Exposition

Ancient Rome is the setting of this book. Right there, Bodhi show Riley the Ludus-the Ludus Magnus- that is one of the biggest and most important gladiator schools in Rome´s history.

Plot

Whisper is about a girl called Riley that is sent for a mission that was to go to Rome to the ludus where she was needed to convince a dead gladiator called Theocoles to accept his fate and move on. When she entered there she found a girl called Messalina that by the time it converted in her “friend”. She made the possible for Riley not made for what she goes as she did with the other people who came for the same purpose. Messalina changes Riley appearance as she wishes and also change her name into Aurelia. She met Dacian who is a friend of Messalina where both of them fall in love with each other. Aurelia experiences her first kiss. The time passed and she didn’t do what she was to do but she knows that was enchanted by Messalina. At the end Bodhi goes where she was and told her who she really was and at the end she do her work and all of his friends and family celebrate her birthday and also to Messalina.

Riley was sent to Rome where she needs to convince a dead gladiator called Theocoles to accept his fate and move on. There she met Messalina that is in love with Theocoles.

Rising Action

• Messalina enchants Riley by giving her all she wants.
• Messalina transforms Riley in the person she wishes to be so she could not do her work that at the beginning of the story want to do.

Climax

Riley was in her own world that she forget what was her purpose to be in the ludus.

Resolution

Riley does what she was to do at the beginning , still being the girlfriend of Dacian and all of her friends and parents celebrates her birthday and also to Messalina because Riley told them to do it because she never have one.

• Bodhi went to the ludus to make see who Riley really was.
• Riley doesn’t want to recognize anything and think that she really was Aurelia instead of Riley.

Conflict

Theme

The conflict is that Riley is sent to the ludus to convince Theocoles to accept his fate and to move on but she is enchanted by Messalina by transforming her into the person she wish to be and changing her name to Aurelia. She and Dacian fall in love and experienced her first kiss. Because of that she is in her own planet and is not doing the thing why because she is there.

The of this story is that you should never stop being yourself even if you change physically but always know who we are and what is our purpose.

Main Characters

Riley / Aurelia

She is 12 years old and is sent on a mission to Rome and convinced a dead gladiator called Theocoles to accept his fate and move on. She is enchanted, was transformed into another person and use another name that was Aurelia, and was in love with Dacian where she experimented her first kiss.

Theocoles

He is called the Pillar of Doom because he is the best gladiator of that time and is the one who always win the battle and no one has been able to overcome him.

He is a friend of Messalina and the one who fells in love with Aurelia that then both of them converted in boyfriend and girlfriend.

She is the one who is in love with Theocoles and made the possible to all the persons that went for the same reason as Riley to not do it because she enchanted them and with the case of Riley she give her all she want and also transform her.

He is the guide of Riley and he is the one who tells her to go to Rome especially to the ludus. He and is the boyfriend of Jasmine, a member of the council and has a dog called Buttercup.
