Unlike Italian Renaissance, the art did not focus on recapturing Greek and Roman art, but rather the change in religious reform. The artists were greatly inspired by the Reformation, which questioned the weakened power of the Catholic Church. Also, the artists payed very close attention to small detail.
Leonardo's painting depicts Christ's baptism by John the Baptist. Here the painting shows the differences between the artistic styles during the Medieval and Italian Renaissance by the
details shown. Leonardo shows his attention to detail through the
anatomy of Christ's and
John's bodies.
da Vinci's take on the last supper, which showed the Biblical prominence in Italian artwork. Although both these paintings are religious/ Biblical scenes, the more realistic style of Leonardo's painting shows the humanism represented during the Italian Renaisance.

The art during this time was inspired by the Greeks and Romans, religion/the Bible taking prominence, and incorporated scientific knowledge into the artwork.
Jan's painting of Mary. The painting shows an example of artwork inspired by/from the
Catholic Church because they pray to Mary.
A portrait of a random man. van Eyck's artwork shows the very, very detailed style used in the Northern Renaissance through the man's face
and head dressing, where as the Medieval artwork was more simple and less
detailed.
