Britain makes Ireland part of a single British kingdom. This meand that the Kingdom of Great Britain and the Kingdom of Ireland were created.

Spain joins Napoleon's war as an ally against the British.

Also, on May 18th, Napoleon crowns himself emperor of the French in a magnificent ceremony in Notre Dame.

Richard Trevithick invents the locomotive, the famous rail transport service which was very popular in XIX Century.

1916: Mary Shelley writes the novel “Frankestein”. Mary was an English writer and philosopher, and Frankestein is her main book.

Jane Austen writes Pride and Prejudice, one of her most famous novels.

Samuel Compton invents the Spinning Mule. The spinning mule is a machine used to spin cotton and other fibres. They were used extensively from the late 18th to the early 20th century.

Jane Austen is born in Steventon, Hampshire, a little country in Southern England.

Beethoven composes his first piece, and does his first performance. Ludwig van Beethoven was a German composer and pianist, a crucial figure in the transition between the Classical and Romantic eras.

Jane Asuten dies in Winchester, England, at the age of 42.

Start of the French Revolution. It was a period ofsocial and political uprisings in France that lasted from 1789 until 1799, and was partially carried by Napoleon during the later expansion of the French Empire.
