Gaspar Corte Real's original goal for his voyage was to find a Northwest passage to Asia.
Gaspar Corte Real was looking for a Northwest passage to Asia when he was searching for the passage he landed on the continent of Greenland. Then traveled back home. He then went on a second voyage and attempted to find a Northwest passage again but instead landed on Newfoundland . on his voyage back he was lost at sea. While the members of his crew returned to Portugal to tell about his travel.

*Without his voyage we probably wouldn't have discovered Newfoundland or Greenland until a much later date. Also people in Newfoundland and Greenland most likely would speak a different language.
