The "Royal Tennis" was a game exclusively for indoors, and mostly played by Europe's leading monarchs, and it is the game from which the Tennis we know now, was developed. This ship was located there with the purpose of letting Spain know that America was present. The reason for this new, was to provoke America's president to get involved and go to War with Spain. This article blamed Spain for the explosion of the ship, but the truth was, that some mechanical issue, caused it. Yellow Journalism that was looking for a reason that can make president McKinley go to war with Spain. This is important because it led to the beginning of the Spanish-American War.

Art & Design 1850-1899

This is a painting by Eyre Crowe called "Slaves Waiting For Sale - Richmond, Virginia" in 1861. When Eyre Crowe created this image, he was visiting Virginia as a secretary of a British novelist. He sketched a slave auction on Wall Street, and he almost got kick out of the auction for that. Back in the 1850's, before the Civil War, artists took risks trying to portray what was happening in the country, mostly in the south. Slave owners did not want people to know what the reality was. This image was created to reflect the suffering of the families being broken apart.
