years old when he came with the

Canadian national junior team they came

to the World Junior Championships to play.

Canada finish with a bronze medal. 1982 World Championships in Finland they won bronze again. in the 1981 Canada Cup the got silver in 1984 they got gold in 1987 they got gold again and also in 1991 they got gold. During they World Cup the got silver and in 1998 Winter Olympics team Canada got no medal they had lost to Finland 3–2.

Wayne Gretzky went to the WHL to play hockey as his career. He went to the WHL because the NHL Had an age requirement of the player needing to be 20 to try to play in the NHL,but Wayne was only 17. Wayne first started on the Indianapolis Racers For 8 games but to do financial problems the team no longer could be a team. so Wayne had the choice between the Edmonton Oilers and the Winnipeg Jets before they were a NHL team,He played for the Edmonton Oilers for the whole time even when they became a NHL team.

Wayne Gretzky was named the alternate captain, The trade did not discourage Wayne, he actually Scored his first goal on the kings in the first game and Wayne gave the kings the best start of to the season that they ever had. When the kings went to the playoffs Wayne was versing his old team the Oilers he was scared of getting booed at because of him going to the kings. this fear cause Wayne to panic and cause them to let the series go to 3–1 but the kings did manage to win 4-3. Wayne's performance also got more fans for the kings.

Wayne Gretzky was born on January 26, 1961, he got a quick start to skating he first skated when hey was only 2 years 10 months old. Gretzky's dad Walter Started to teach him and his siblings how to play hockey on a rink that they made in their backyard. When Gretzky started to play hockey on a team hey was the youngest player at the age of 6 when every one else where 10.

During the 1992-93 season Wayne was on the sidelines for most of the season because of a back injury. the next year Wayne broke Gordie Howe's career goal-scoring record and won the scoring title. Wayne was starting to dislike the team and felt it falling apart so he started to look at getting traded to a new team and in 1996 wyane had left the kings on his own and trade him self to a new team because he was unhappy with the LA Kings. Wyane played on the LA Kings from 1988 to 1996.

Even at such a young age Wayne was so good that he was better then all of the ten year old on his team. a signature thing that Wayne did is that he would tuck his jersey on the right side of his pants because it was to big on him but he continued to do that even in the NHL. When Wayne was ten years old he finished the season with 378 goals and 139 assists when he was playing on the Brantford Nadrofsky Steelers. By the age of 13 he had scored over a 1000 goals and was getting a lot of attention

even out side of Brantford,but with all of this attention came haters, hey even got booed at.

When Wayne turned 14 his parents arranged for him to go to Toronto to farther his Career.

But before Wayne could go to Canada to play his parents had to get permission from the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association to let him play in Canada because you where not allowed to move some where and play a sport the at the time. He was given approval to play hockey in Canada so he moved to Toronto and played for the Toronto Nationals. Wayne got the number 99 when he played for the Greyhounds he wore number 9 before because it was his hockey hero Gordie Howe number but it was already taken.

On February 27, 1996, Gretzky started to play for the St. Louis Blues, Wayne had the the option to play on the St. Louis Blues or the New York Rangers. Wayne went with the St. Louis Blues just because it met more of his demands like pay. As soon as Wayne joined the St. Louis Blues he was made the captain of the team. Wayne managed to get 37 points in 38 games but when the playoffs came they came one game short of going to the Conference Finals. He clams that the team work was not there and when Wayne was publicly criticized by coach Mike Keenan he rejected the contract that they had and he was once again up for trade but this time as a free agent. Wayne played on the St. Louis Blues for only one season.

In 1988 two hours after Wayne Gretzky won his 3 cup he was informed by his dad that the oilers are going to trade him cause the owner of the oilers needed money. At first Wayne was upset but later he was okay With it. On August 9, 1988 Wayne and 3 other Players where traded to the LA kings for 15 million dollars.

Wayne Gretzky is one of the most widely know hockey player in the world. Hey played for 20 seasons, Hey wore the number 99 and when he retired the number retired with him. Hey played for 4 teams in his career Which include Edmonton Oilers, Los Angel Kings,St. Louis Blues and theNew York Rangers. He was a center player and shot with his left.

Wayne Gretzky decided to leave the

St. Louis Blues and go to New York Rangers.

When Wayne went to the New York Rangers he was not named the captain of the team this was the first the time in his career that he was not named captain. In 1997 the playoff season the New York Rangers went to the playoffs and lost in the Eastern Conference Finals, That was the last time the New York Rangers went to the playoffs with Wayne on there team. In 1997 The Hockey News voted Wayne as the best hockey player of all time but Wayne says that he would have said that Bobby Orr or Gordie Howe where the best of all time. the 1998-99 season was the last season that Wayne played. the season before he broke an all time record of most points he got an amazing 1,072 and beat Gordie Howe record of 1,071 points. On April 18, 1999 Wayne played his last game he end up losing to the Pittsburgh Penguins but he had a great career to look back at. Wayne played on the New York Rangers from 1996 to 1999.

After Wayne Gretzky retirement

lots of NHL teams proceed him of own a part and possible coach a team. In November 22, 1999 he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. In May 2000 Wayne took 10% ownership of the Phoenix Coyotes. On August 8, 2005 Wayne agreed to become the head coach of the Phoenix Coyotes he coached the Phoenix Coyotes till 2009. Wayne was also the Executive Director of the Canadian men's hockey team during the 2002 Winter Olympics.

After the WHL failed the Edmonton Oilers went to the NHL with Wayne Gretzky still playing for them. Even In the NHL Wayne was a rising star and was still scoring good points. In 1981-82 season Wayne beat Maurice Richard record of 50 goals in 50 games,Wayne did it in 39 games. Wyane won 3 Stanley Cup on the oilers then was trade in 1988.
