Sawm is the annual period of fasting during Ramadan. Throughout the 29-30 days of Ramadan adults must give up the right to eat or drink during the hours of daylight. I would give up eating meat for a month. 'Once a year I will go vegetarian'.' Once a year I will have no phones or gadgets.'
