WHAT’S AN IDIOM?
An idiom is a commonly used expression whose meaning does not relate to the literal meaning of its words.

Speak of the
devil

USE: When you’re talking with someone about a specific person and that person appears or you see them at the same moment that you’re speaking.
Example:
-Hi Mary, speak of the devil, I was just telling my sister about your news!
Ring a bell
USE: Something that sounds familiar to us but we are not entirely sure where or when did you listened it.
EXAMPLE:
-Do you know Alex?
-I’m not sure, but her name certainly rings a bell.
OUT OF A/THE CLEAR (BLUE) SKY
USE:
-completely unexpectedly

EXAMPLE:
You need to work hard, opportunities don't just appear out of the clear sky.
SLEEP ON IT
USE: to wait until the next day to make a decision, so that you have some time to consider it carefully.
Example:
Don't make any promises today. We'll talk about it tomorrow when you've had a chance to sleep on it.
“Elephant in the room”, sometimes also “Elephant in the living room”

USE: “A big issue everyone is aware of, but which is being ignored, because everybody finds discussion about it uncomfortable”.
EXAMPLE:
The friendship between Vizcarra and Swing is a big elephant in the room. When Vizcarra is at a press conference.
Spill the beans
USE: reveal secret information, especially unintentionally or indiscreetly.
EXAMPLE:
Kate was cheating on his boyfriend for 2 years, but yesterday Sandra accidentally spilled the beans to him.
