The scenes was original scheduled to shoot at a downtown ruin pub, but the set and production needed more space. Finally the museum became the in- and outside of Club Nomad, where more than 500 extras danced when 50 Cent stepped on stage. The MC of the club is played by local actor Ivan Kamaras. The famous dance scene of Evita with Madonna and Antonio Banderas was shot here in 1996.

The neo-Renaissance opera house is located in central Budapest, and was designed by Miklós Ybl, a major figure of 19th century Hungarian architecture. The Rome casino scene was shot here at a stage door. Superspy Susan Cooper (Melissa McCarthy) and the fearful Bulgarian terrorist (Rose Byrne) make friends here.

Kétnapos munkával itt vették fel Jude Law és Melissa McCarthy első közös ebédjét. Itt hangzik el a híres párbeszéd: „Lehet, hogy bunkó vagyok, de a desszert rágós.” „Coop, a szalvétát eszi.”

A palotát 1906-ban építették a londoni Gresham biztosító budapesti székhelyeként. Ez Budapest egyik legszebb szecessziós épülete, 1987 óta a világörökség része. A szálloda 2004-es megnyitása óta még soha nem járult hozzá, hogy filmet forgassanak a falai között.

The palace was built in 1906 for the Gresham Insurance Company and remains one of the finest examples of Art Nouveau/Secessionist buildings in Budapest. It opened as a flagship luxury hotel in 2004 and SPY is the first movie allowed to film inside.

SCENES OF BUDA CASTLE IN OTHER MOVIES
A couple of Hungarian actors surround Susan Cooper (Melissa McCarthy) when she gets stuck in concrete with her motor bike. For the Hungarian version actor Levente Törköly needed to dub himself.
Under the castle hide a labyrinth of limestone caves that stretches some 23 miles. The caves were originally excavated as quarries in the 1700s. The scene with Jude Law and the gang members chasing him takes place in Bulgaria. The narrow streets of the Castle District however play Rome in the scene of a mad car ride with Melissa McCarthy and Peter Serafinowicz.

Around the halfway point of the 12-week shooting schedule, the company moved to picturesque Lake Balaton, the largest inland lake in Europe, located an hour-and-a-half drive from Budapest. Two lakeside villas served as unique practical locations in the film. The first, located on the northern shore of the lake, is “story set” on the Black Sea in Bulgaria, where Fine flees from gunmen after a botched assignment and makes his way to an escape speedboat. The second villa, even more luxuriant, plays itself, so to speak, and is situated 40 minutes away, near the popular tourist village of Balatonfured.

The airport was built in 1942 and from above shows the silhouette of an airplane. In the film it substitutes for Fiumicino, Rome. In this scene appear Hungarian celebrity Attila Arpa and actor Balint Adorjani in a hot red sport convertible.

MOVIE SCENE
A visually striking 1930s power plant that featured a control room that production designer Jefferson Sage likens to a “fantastical ‘Flash Gordon’ spaceship bridge.” With its elliptical stained-glass ceiling and rows of panels, it appears to be equally period and futuristic.
With more than 300 extras on hand, the show-stopping drag artist Verka Serduchka and her band play their international hit tune “Dancing Lasha Tumbai” on a large stage at the north end of the square. Among the guests stopping by during the two-day sequence is the British Ambassador to Hungary, who chats with Statham and filmmakers while watching Verka tear through repeated takes of “Lasha Tumbai.”
