What are sinkholes?
What are sink holes?!?!?!
A sinkhole is a cavity in the ground that forms when water erodes underlying rock formations. Sinkholes have both natural and human causes. Lands composed of soft subterranean formations of rock, such as the halite around the Dead Sea and the limestone of Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula, are often filled with sinkholes because the rock formations easily collapse.
-Low water levels - drought, groundwater extraction (wells, quarries, mines)
-Soil disturbance - soil layer excavation, soil removal, excavation
-Point water sources - leaks/sewer lines, water injection
-Concentrations of water flow - storm sewers, troughs, etc.
-Reservoirs - basins, ponds, dams
-Heavy surface loads - structures, equipment
Sinkholes can also occur due to a combination of factors. Sinkholes that are left open to absorb more water can continue to grow and contribute to the development of other sinkholes nearby.
When rain seeps or seeps into the ground, it absorbs carbon dioxide and reacts with decaying vegetation, creating slightly acidic water. This water moves through subterranean spaces and fissures, slowly dissolving the limestone, creating a network of cavities and cavities. will be revealed. Sinkholes form when the overlying land surface collapses or subducts into voids, or when surface material is carried into voids.
Droughts and associated high levels of groundwater pumping can create favorable conditions for sinkhole formation. Also, heavy rains after drought often exert enough pressure on the ground to create sinkholes.
Sinkholes can be caused by human activities such as:
Over-extraction of groundwater
Draining and concentrating large areas of surface water
A pond made artificially with surface water
drilling a new well
In urban and suburban areas, sinkholes are dangerous as they can destroy highways and buildings. Sinkholes can also cause water quality problems. Collapses can drain surface water into aquifers. This is an underground source of drinking water.
Citrus Hills is located in a potentially dangerous region of the nation when it comes to sinkholes. In fact, the entire state of Florida, along with some regions of the American Midwest, is especially prone to sinkholes. And yes, Florida does have sink holes in the west of central Florida. "Based on the Florida Department of Environmental Protection database there are about 27,000 reported sinkhole incidences and sinkhole-affected areas across the Florida." -https://www.clickorlando.com/
For example:

-China
-And or the mid west

Now First of all they can happen at any time even though there are some indication and lets be honest it can suck someone up aggresively sinking into the ground. But according to some more facts, "A person can be harmed when stepping into an existing sinkhole or when the ground beneath gives way during a sinkhole's collapse. Sinkholes can cause structural damage and instability under buildings, roads and bridges. Repairing them after collapse is expensive and requires specialized knowledge"
Well people wold have to watch out for this nature or human made disaters inside of areas were there most prone. And people can die....
Well first off there is no way to prevent disasters especially natural ones but there are ways to prevent big impact like making more places structurly sound for sink holes so that when was does happen you would have enough time to get out before the struture collapse but other people think differently. Like "The combination of gravity, loss of buoyancy and water pressure can activate a collapse. By keeping water tables high, water conservation rules and drought restrictions are tools to help prevent sinkholes from occurring."
